Getting Back to Our Roots
Join the eighth annual Chesapeake Pagan Summer Gathering, where we'll find our way
back to our magical roots at Camp Ramblewood. Amidst
Nature's cathedral of trees, we'll celebrate the season and
study the theory and practice of magick. Our activities will include workshops, sweat
circles, ritual, spiritual healing, spellcraft, oracular seeing, trancework and bonfire
drumming. People from all levels of training, ages, genders and orientations are welcome.
Participants have found the relatively small size of the CPC summer gatherings to be an excellent venue for serious, highly-focused magic. We're expecting attendance of 120 to 160 for 2011. This means you'll have time to meet and talk with our featured guests and workshop presenters in a comfortable, uncrowded environment.
Our ritual drummers will lead us again into the ICARUS Fire Circle, a ritual combining the essences of fire and rhythm into a single, intense magical working. As a very special and rare honor, the Icarus crew has arranged for Orion Foxwood to build and charge a Faery Cairn to the Faery queen Brigh at Camp Ramblewood during this event. | Faery Cairne |
Sweats
Sacred sweats are a tradition found on all
the world's continents. Guided by our skilled pourers, the alchemy of fire and water
will purify your soul. Would you like to participate in a sweat? Please fill out our
Sweat Survey.
Camping Neighbors
We'll be sharing some of the camp's facilities with another clothing-optional group:
the Maryland Area Naturist
Association (MARNA).
The Naturists will be using the cabins on the Southern
side of the camp for their own summer retreat, while CPC is using the cabins along the
Northern side of the camp. Both groups will share the dining hall and the pool,
which are big enough to easily accomodate all of us.
CPC has extended an open invitation to MARNA's members to visit our side of the camp and participate in our Gathering activities. We have a similar invitation from MARNA, so feel free to visit the entire campground. Both events are clothing optional.
Record Breakin' skinny dip and hoops
On Saturday, July 9, MARNA will be teaming up with CPC to participate
in the new AANR Guiness World Record Challenge: nude hula-hooping! At precisely 3 p.m. on that date,
we’ll meet at the breezeway by the camp’s pool with as many people and hula-hoops as we can to meet the
Guiness challenge. This will be followed immediately with a dip in the pool in an attempt to break our
own local skinny dipping record.
We're offering a special Skinnydipper's
Pass for folks who would like to help us set a new record, but can visit for
only a few hours on Saturday. (Nudity is optional in the hula-hoop challenge. All ages are welcome.)
Camp Facilities
Camp facilities include flushing toilets, hot showers, swimming pool, cabins with
plumbing and electricity, plenty of space for tent campers, a dining hall serving
buffet-style meals, and excellent cellular reception. The site covers about 200
acres, surrounded by trees. Portions of the camp are not easily accessible to
handicapped individuals, but CPC provides a golf cart and portable radios for
accessibility.

Like many Pagan gatherings, garb is welcome and clothing is optional at this event. "Clothing optional" means clothing is not required and some people won't bother to wear any. Aside from that, the same rules about polite behavior elsewhere in American society also apply at the CPC Summer Gathering. Things people do in privacy should still be done in privacy, and illegal substances are very definitely not allowed.
Skinnydipper's Pass (Saturday 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.)
The Skinnydipper's Pass entitles you to join us in the pool and to participate in
any other Gathering activities from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday. If you'd like to stay
for dinner (6-7 p.m.) or extend your visit overnight, those options are also available as
an addition to the Skinnydipper's Pass. There are
no discounts for late arrivals.
Don't be late and don't forget to bring your own towel.
