2013 Summer Gathering

Harvest of Rebirth
Join the ninth annual Chesapeake Pagan Summer Gathering, as the time of harvest approaches
in late summer. Our activities will include workshops, ritual, spiritual healing, spellcraft,
oracular seeing, scrying, trancework, bonfire drumming and dancing. People from all levels of
training, ages, genders and orientations are welcome.
Participants have found the relatively small size of the CPC summer gatherings to be an excellent venue for serious, highly-focused magic. We're expecting attendance of 60 to 100 for 2013. This means you'll have time to meet and talk with workshop presenters in a comfortable, uncrowded environment, or just take it easy and relax in the pool.
Main Ritual will be led by Shulameet. Our ritual drummer, with assistance from anyone else who wishes to drum, will lead us into the Harvest of Rebirth.
Main Ritual will be followed by a concert by Maugorn the Stray at the Dance Pavilion.
There will also be a memorial service to remember friends and relatives who are no longer with us. Our customary communal altar will include space for honoring ancestors.
Other activities of a less serious nature will include juggling lessons, archery, board games, yard games, and children's crafts.
Community planning
On Saturday, we will have a community planning session to discuss plans for next year's
Gathering, other events we'd like to hold, CPC participation in public events, and our role
in the Pagan community. Changes proposed in how CPC operates, the scope and focus of its
gatherings, and our outreach program will be part of the discussion. Gathering participants
are invited to be part of our decision making process.
Community participation
Community participation is an integral part of the Gathering experience. All adults at the
Gathering are encouraged to contribute at least an hour of time helping to run the event.
This can be in the form of teaching a class, leading a ritual, driving the golf cart, or
helping with registration. If you would like to teach a class, direct a workshop, or lead a
ritual, please fill out
our on-line workshop reservation form so that the Registrar can add your activity to the
program.
Merchants
Operating your own merchant's booth is also considered community service work at the CPC
Summer Gathering. We do not charge any additional fees for merchant space. If you would
like to have your business listed (for free) in the Gathering program, please fill out our
on-line Merchant Reservation form.
Camp Facilities
Camp facilities include flushing toilets, hot showers, swimming pool, cabins with
plumbing and electricity, plenty of space for tent campers, a dining hall serving
buffet-style meals, and excellent cellular reception. The site covers about 200
acres, surrounded by trees. Portions of the camp are not easily accessible to
handicapped individuals, but CPC provides a golf cart and portable radios for
accessibility.

Participation in the camp's meal plan is optional. You may bring your own food and do your own cooking.

Like many Pagan gatherings, garb is welcome and clothing is optional at this event. "Clothing optional" means clothing is not required and some people won't bother to wear any. Aside from that, the same rules about polite behavior elsewhere in American society also apply at the CPC Summer Gathering. Things people do in privacy should still be done in privacy, and illegal substances are very definitely not allowed.
Te & Bear Memorial Scholarship Fund
Chesapeake Pagan Community serves as custodian for the Te & Bear Memorial Scholarship Fund, founded by Shulameet. This fund is intended to assist Pagan folk of limited financial means to attend gatherings. The fund has not been active in recent years. However, if you are interested you may write to the treasurer at treasurer@chesapeakepagans.org.
